Today was half-marathon in Pfronten, to which I drove with Werner and Richard (Charlie had to work unfortunately, the poor thing had early shift). Why am I here now in Veganblog and not as usual in the rabbit blog writing? Well, the resolution of this legitimate question comes at the end. But there is indeed a concrete reason for it.
It was a loose half-marathon in a beautiful, typical allgäuerischen autumn landscape with beautiful forests, rushing water and kitsch and bright colors. Since I had no time goals (next Marathon week yes is because we run the week before no quick HM!), I was able to enjoy the ambience and just. At about kilometer 15 I joined a lady who ran for several miles just a few meters in front of me, so we had the exact same tempo .... and so we got to talking, and it turned out that we are almost neighbors, and that her husband is a colleague of Charles. The world is small! It was really nice to talk about everything, so only time flew so and we were also together to the finish. The finish we were, of course, as is so common in such small events, listed by name and greets, and with me said the commentator, then, that I belong to the team "Vegan Run" (which has exactly two members, namely Charlie and me * grin *) and that the highly interesting charity and I am but please in a moment was to present to him, because he wants to talk to you a bit about me. What's that? As someone interested in my Vegansein? So nice. I agree very much but a little more information. So I like him to back, and immediately I was interviewed formally with microphone and so .... He wanted to know how long I was already vegan, what that means exactly, whether I enjoy doing and if I lose any positive changes had identified with. I was good Answer questions, told him of Charlie's new marathon best was over three weeks * alleged * =), and as the interview, he asked the crowd to a thunderous applause that followed at once.
But the best is only now: after that (and without a microphone) he told me then all of us that he is also vegan - and had been 30 YEARS! Since I was a bit flabbergasted and I've obviously over the moon - vegan for 30 years, crazy!
(1980 there was the word vegan but not yet, right? ;-))
He said he had been in India in 1980, and that have influenced him so persistent that he was living vegan since absolutely consistent. He love it, "said he, and he could not imagine themselves differently than to live vegan. For this I could only say "ditto", even if there are only about two years for me =)
sake of completeness, I must now, of course add that this man looks like the bloom of life, very healthy and is not subject to any "deficiencies"; p suffered .... oh, and he is also runner, and he runs the marathon in 3 hours and 6 minutes. Not bad, Mr. Specht.
Hach, was that nice! Such nobles I can ever again as follows confirmation in what I do .... not that I had any doubt, but still. Vegansein is easy schöööön * swarm * =)
